Some programs may only last for two weeks but others may offer a six month training period, depending whether the students are choosing the part time or full time studying period. However, each state has different requirements from one another. For example, in certain states, the CNA certification requires about at least 75 hours of studying. Before taking the class, people should check the state regulations first. Browse around for the right institutions or classes. The classes are mostly offered by nursing homes, community colleges, and hospitals. Be prepared to engage in theoretical study as well as practical classes. Where Can I Get CNA Certification ?

It’s not difficult to get CNA certification. Every city within a state should have the right medical centers that provide the CNA classes. The training is usually provided at nursing care, vocational schools, hospitals, or even community centers. It’s also possible totake the training online, although maybe the participants will have a little bit of different arrangements when they need to engage in practical study. If they’re confused, they can always go to their state’s CNA registry and ask for detailed information of where to find the right training classes in their city or state.

In order to get the CNA certification, the students need to take the NNAAP test which will evaluate and assess their skills and knowledge. The test may have different mechanism in different state; however, the basic principle is mainly the same. There’re two major parts of the test and they’re executed on the same day. The first part is the oral test, which usually includes multiple choice forms. Another part is the skill evaluation where students need to perform at least five different and random skills, which will include:

  • Identifying and answering the hep signals from the patients
  • Helping patients to move, such as exercising, getting in and out of bed, walking.
  • Monitoring the patients’ vital signs, food intake, and wellbeing before reporting everything to the nursing staff,
  • Feeding patients through oral ingestion or gastric tube.

The CNA certification is considered active when the holder is having nursing services with at least eight hours of work period without two years break from any nursing activity. When they have professional five years break – they aren’t active in nursing job – the license is considered expired. To be sure, they should check with their home state board that releases the license.

Can I Transfer the CNA Certification to Another State ?

It’s very common to have CNA certification transfer once they have the official license. There’s no need to worry because they can always manage to deal with the licensing process. Here’re the steps to manage the process:

  1. Check whether the state where they’re transferring to accept the reciprocity – or transfer – process. Some states don’t accept such thing, such as North Carolina.
  2. Contact the Nurse Aide Registry in their new state and tell them about their wish for applying for the reciprocity. Ask the person in charge whether they want to receive the ‘Application for Enrolment by Reciprocity’ form from the certificate holders or from the home Nurse Aide Registry. Be sure to have this before proceeding with the next procedure.
  3. Contact their home state Nurse Aide registry. If the new registry office is okay with the certificate holder to deal with the whole application process, ask their home-state registry office to send the form. Fill out the requested information, along with these attachments.l

- A copy of social security information and card
- Identification cards like the driver license
- The CNA certification approved by the state
- A recent payment record showing the fact that they have been working in the field
