CNA Classes in California

An applicant to a CNA training program in California, should be at least sixteen (16) years old. A fifteen (15) year old may take the training program as long as they turn sixteen (16) before they finish the program. Many if not most employers will not hire until the CNA has turned eighteen (18). Students must pass a criminal background check prior to entering into the program. Students must also have a physical examination in order to make sure that they do not pose a health concern to their patients or themselves.

The California state Department of Health Services must approve of the CNA program. In California there are thousands of programs in which to attend classes. Programs must include one hundred and fifty (150) training hours. These hours are broken down into clinical hours, and classroom instruction hours. With there being eighty (80) hours of classroom training, and seventy (70) hours of clinical training. Participants must complete the program in order to take the states certification examination.

Courses that are studied include but is not limited to: emergency response, personal care such as dental care and other hygienic care, basic nursing skills, basic medical equipment operation and handling, range of motion, communication, medical terminology, and more.

Depending on what city the program resides in, the programs can range in price from $900 to $2000.
