CNA Classes in Maryland

Most programs require that an applicant be eighteen (18) years of age, however some programs allow for an applicant to be as young as sixteen(16) years of age. Most employers will require that their employees be eighteen (18) years old. As is typical, an applicant must pass a TB test, and a criminal background check.

The program requires that one hundred (100) to one hundred and twenty (120) hours of training are completed prior to being able to take the state required CNA examination. This training must consist of both classroom, and clinical (hands on) training. The examination test will have two parts, which will be written and a hands on assessment. Prospective CNA’s must pass both parts of the test before receiving their certification. The state examination must be taken within twenty-four months of training, or training will have to be repeated.

The curriculum covers things such as anatomy, science, math, healthcare law, safety, observation, infection control, ambulatory, communication, the elderly, abuse, personal care, and basic medical equipment operation.

The cost of attending a CNA class program in Maryland sits at around the $400 to $2000 mark, however it can be higher or lower depending on the location of the given institution.
