CNA Classes in North Carolina

Becoming a CNA in North Carolina requires students to complete a certain path of study. First, they must complete and accredited CNA training program. This program can vary in length depending on the acceleration of the program at a particular institution.  There needs to be at least seventy-five hours to be qualified and roughly twenty of these hours must be spent in a practical setting. The training program must be approved by the state of North Carolina to count as proper training and it must offer both clinical practice and written preparation to be considered sufficient preparation. The cost of the training can vary based on the teaching institution.

The state fee for the certification exam in North Carolina is one-hundred one dollars and the student is responsible for finding a testing location that offers an accredited exam. The certification exam consists of a practical, skills assessment and a written portion. The cost of the state exam is ninety-six dollars. Once completed and a background check is passed, an individual will be placed on the state’s registry of certified nursing assistants.  A certificate must be renewed every two years to keep a CNA eligible to work in the field.
