CNA Classes in South Carolina

The state of South Carolina sets a minimum requirement of seventy hours of coursework in an accredited and state recognized CNA program before an individual can sit for the state CNA exam. This is a minimum requirement that must be completed in the time frame set by the institution and must also include at least partial time spent in a clinical setting.

If a student does not complete the hours in the time frame set by the institution, then they must take the coursework over again. It is their responsibility to do this and also to pay for the courses. These courses can range in price from a few hundred dollars to thousands, and they cover topics of basic nursing skills, how to interact with patients, and how to handle basic nursing equipment, among others.

Once completed, South Carolina then requires individuals to sit for a state CNA exam. The CNA exam includes two different portions. This includes a written exam as well as the demonstration of five different skills in a clinical setting. If either portion is failed, the student must leave the testing area. They will get three opportunities to pass before they must take the coursework over again.
