CNA Classes in South Dakota

In South Dakota, a student is required to complete a certified CNA training program that lasts a minimum of seventy-five hours. These hours can vary in price but can be as low as two-hundred dollars and go up from there.  The training must include classroom lecture in the basics of nursing as well as practical patient care. This practical portion must be completed under the direction of an RN and meet the state standards of clinical care instruction. South Dakota is a state that does recognize some training courses offered online, which is not the case in every state. All CNA training programs must be approved and recognized by the state itself to be considered efficient and sufficiently recognized.

Upon completion, a student in South Dakota will then be required to complete a state recognized CNA exam. This exam must be provided by an accredited institution and is divided into two parts: a manual skills assessment and a written portion. The written portion of the exam is multiple choice and must be passed to move on to the next portion of the exam. The manual skills assessment must be passed in order to become a CNA. Certificates will be officially rewarded when a final background check is done.
