CNA Classes in West Virginia

To become a CNA in West Virginia, a student will need to complete a recognized CNA training program. This program is one of the longest in the country and must be at least sixty hours in length. These hours are divided evenly between classroom instruction or lectures and hands-on training in a clinical setting. All clinical training must be supervised by a qualified RN in order to suffice.

The cost of these programs can vary based on who is providing the accredited instruction but all must offer classes in the area of infection spreading, basic nursing, and the mechanics of operating equipment necessary for patient needs, among others.

The CNA exam in West Virginia includes two portions and must be completed at a certified training facility. Individuals must pass a seventy-two multiple choice question exam and must also participate in a clinical exam as well. This clinical exam requires students to demonstrate five skills that they have mastered during their course of study. This will be assessed, and, then, once passed, the student will be registered with the state as a CNA. The only step prior to becoming the CAN is passing a federal and state background check.
